Last month, Jerome Redmond, President and CEO of American Truck Training (ATT), traveled to Washington, D.C. for the Commercial Vehicle Training Association’s (CVTA) annual Hill Day. While on Capitol Hill, Jerome met with Congresswoman Stephanie Bice of Oklahoma’s 5th Congressional District, who expressed her continued commitment to supporting workforce development, particularly through WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) funding.

As a member of the Appropriations Subcommittee for Labor and Education, Congresswoman Bice plays a vital role in funding decisions that directly impact truck driver training programs. During the meeting, she fondly recalled visiting the American Truck Training campus a few years ago and was enthusiastic about helping address the funding needs that support future drivers and workforce development.

A Driving Force for Policy Change in Trucking

At American Truck Training, we do more than prepare students for the road—we lead the way in advocacy. In fact, American Truck Training advocates on behalf of future truck drivers year-round, not just during Hill Day. We are one of the only truck driving schools in our region that actively engages with members of Congress to emphasize how essential truck drivers are to our economy.

By standing alongside CVTA members, American Truck Training advocates highlighted the need to reduce financial and regulatory barriers for those pursuing a CDL. We support any initiative that empowers individuals to get ahead financially through real, long-term career opportunities in trucking. Whether it’s increasing funding, modernizing training standards, or working directly with lawmakers, our commitment to the future of the trucking workforce remains strong.

Direct advocacy like this is more important than ever. Through continued dialogue with policymakers, we ensure that the voices of our students—and the future of the trucking industry—are not just heard, but prioritized.
